Join Us

Generally, we are always accepting new membership applications. Periodically (usually in spring), we will hold an information session for a larger group of interested parties to let them know what we are all about, and to answer questions. Check the message board on the home page for future session dates.

Interested parties will go through a friendly application and interview process to determine their suitability for membership. This includes a basic criminal background check and a reference check. If you are interested in joining, or would like more information, contact us at info@pocomar.org.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have or obtain a valid PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operators Card) or equivalent before becoming a member of POCOMAR
• Must obtain a Marine ROC (Radio Operators Certificate) and a CCGA SAR Basic course within the first 12 months of membership (Courses provided through the unit.)
• Must be willing to commit a minimum average of 10 hours per month year round
• Must participate in unit fundraising and promotional activities

Previous boating knowledge and experience is an asset, but not a requirement!
